  1. this video is obviously a satiric metaphor for the management of the bp gulf oil spill. The author uses pathos by making the people try ridiculous solutions that only made the problem worse and by playing ominous sounds in the background. What I found most amusing were the things written on the white board in their conference room. the words "crisis management" implies that theses people should be good at managing situations like the spill. under the heading gallons per day all the numbers have question marks after them. this represents that BP has no idea how much oil is actually spilling. This is supposed to convince the viewer that BP's management is stupid. the diagram with the word spill connected to the words beaches, public, and animals are supposed to convince the viewer that these three things are going to be affected by the spill.

  2. I agree with frank the creator of this video uses pathos to speak to the audience. Also comedy is used to logically appeal to the audience. The coffee spill is the BP oil spill and the tactics that were used to fix it.

  3. This video definitely reflects people's treatments on solving negative events. When the first cup of coffee spills, they just try to protect their property from being damaged. However, they missed the best time to solve it. At the beginning, though people feel that spilling coffee is not good, they would not treat it seriously. It reminds almost every problems of politics, economics or even our daily life. By showing us the procedures of a terrible consequences, this video uses pathos to make audience to worried about it. Moreover, it vividly reminds us a process from quantitative changes to qualitative changes. No matter how small your mistake is, things would getting worse if you use so-called excellent solution to solve it instead of considered and effective one. Author also uses our visual image and emotion change of characteristics to emphasize the awful influences.

  4. This video uses comedy to criticize BP's response to the oil spill in the Gulf. Although it's supposed to be funny the outrageous reactions by the employees show the viewer that the creators of this video had some very serious problems with BP. Some obvious representations from the table like the sushi and map of Louisiana made the point of the video very clear, very quickly. The way the employees tried to pass the blame to Halliburton, hide the spill initially from the public, and attempt to portray the spill as “a small spill on a big table” show how BP refused to take responsibility for the accident. Another interesting piece of imagery is the paper towel roll near the beginning of the spill, as if there was an easy solution at hand but BP completely ignored it. In reality no simple solution such as paper towels existed, however the creators of the video use this image to further insult the intelligence of BP.

  6. The obvious. The author of this video is slandering BP and its reaction to the oil spill using pathos. It uses humor and sarcasm to tell its audience that BP was unintelligent in its response to the oil spill. The not so obvious, the actual solutions. Every solution they had was too simple or too small to work, but they still tried it. All of the solutions were absurd, furthering the authors message of BP not handling the spill the right way.

  7. Clearly, using humor, comedy sarcasm is the base of this video. It's overreacting the actions that BP made during the oil spill. All the "mess" created by the spill is the significance of the actions and reactions of the US. By using humor and sarcasm it is stating that the BP reacted completely different than they should have.

  8. The most interesting thing that I found was that the answer was in front of them the whole time. The paper towels was almost used at first but instead of using them they instead used it to plan an apparatus that did not work. I think that a point the makers of this video were trying to make is that instead of acting on it and cleaning it up instead they just sat back and tried lots of useless ways to fix it.

  9. In this video, it uses a humorous way to point out that the oil company did not have an efficient way to solve the problem when the oil spill happened. There were many methods to solve the problem, but they did not use any of them. The easiest way to solve the problem was to use the paper towels to clean the coffee. However, they did not use paper. Instead, they chose some complicated and useless methods, which wasted a lot of time. This indicates that the oil company did not behave well when the problem happened.

  10. In this clip, the creator uses a comedy video to satirize the way that BP deals with the oil spilling. The video uses pathos to make its audience think that the treatment applied by BP is ridiculous. There is an interesting scene in the video. A man brings absorbent paper from his back. However he doesn’t use the paper to clean up the spilled coffee on the table, instead, he uses this paper to write down his stupid plan. It indicates that BP was doing similar things that make itself lose the best chance to do some corrective measures to the oil spill and lead to more serious problem.

  11. This clip ridicules the solutions BP came up when dealing with the 2010 gulf spill. It uses a lot of ethos by making the viewers frustrated and even furious about the solutions. One of the solutions that caught my eye was when the guy, sitting at the head of the table, said that he has a brilliant idea then held up a kitchen towel in his hand. I, with no doubt, thought that he would clean the table with that kitchen towel. But instead, he wastes his time drawing a picture on that towel, and ends up not even using that paper towel at all; they were using logos, but in a different way. They were showing something that would go against the logical sense, instead of just showing the viewers the logical way. So that the viewers would be more surprised of the action, because they're seeing something unexpected.

  12. It is clear that the actors in this video are criticizing the BP oil spill. They use logos in order to evoke anger in its audience. The way the workers spill the coffee, but have no idea how to clean it up or decided to do stupid things, such as spilling garbage on the spill in hoping it would be soaked up. The fact that paid professionals are not able to clean up their mess and continue to spill more coffee before finding a solution that would actually work is ridiculous. This video is a true interpretation of the BP oil spill.

  13. The parody used logos to create a pathos situation. They focus on making the situation complicated; The female attempts to use her hands to block to coffee from the laptop, sushi, and a map, which is strange when she could find napkins. They are ridiculing how the situation was handled and want to share this with the audience. They provided logos when it look as if they had solutions to the problem but then used those answers to complicate the process even more. The main focus of this video seems to be on how the Oil Spill was wrongly handled and how everything was brought out of proportion by BP.

  14. I agree with frank also as it uses pathos to appeal to the audience, as the logos are used also. As the coffee spill is the bp oil spill when they found the solution to fix it.

  15. The video uses comedy to criticize the way the BP oil spill was handled. The video repeatedly shows ridiculous ideas to tell the viewer how poorly the situation was handled. The video's comedy aspect is used in order to draw its viewers attention and act in the same way as comedy news networks like the Daily Show or Colbert Report to get its message across in an effective way. It uses facts by metaphoric representations to get its message across.

  17. It was really impressive that I could realized that how prepare a specific cricis. It could be one nation's economic problem, or starvation problem or public order.
The creator of this video focused on pathos by providing the attitude toward spilled coffee in sarcastic way. Some reactions of happen was definitely nonsense but some other were almost versimilar way to solve it. It was also interesting part that showing a chaning step as time passed. Even thought they were trying with stupid solution to solve, it still same or getting worse. This is exactly reflected on today's appearnce of today's world. This is safe to say that needed change things should be in correct way by meeting with cause and effect.
